Meet & Greet, Feminist Campus Decoration, Voices for Choices, and Take Back the Night!

Hello everyone! We’ve got a few events to share with you today!

1) Our upcoming Meet & Greet! This is a joint event between the Women’s Studies Undergrad Association (WSUA) and the Women’s Centre Collective. It will take place in the board room in the basement of Assiniboia Hall (on campus near Quad) on Wednesday September 21st from 2-4pm. Together we are a pro-feminist group that wants to be active on campus and have fun, and it is not exclusive to Women’s Studies students. Come check it out!

2) Feminist Edmonton and the Edmonton RebELLEs invite feminists and other gender equality advocates to decorate the University of Alberta campus with feminist signs and posters this Saturday, September 17th! They will be meeting at 2pm on the main floor of CAB (Central Academic Building) at the U of A. The group will spend about 90 minutes making the posters and another 90 minutes putting the posters up around campus. Check out the Facebook event page here and check out pictures from a similar event at Grant MacEwan here!

3) Voices for Choices is the U of A’s pro-choice group devoted to fostering a pro-choice community and providing knowledge on pro-choice issues, and their annual Meet & Greet will take place on Monday, September 19th from 4:30-7pm in the Athabasca Hall lounge (room 227). Anyone who’s interested in the group is welcome to come and stop by and learn about events planned for this year or to make suggestions! Check out the Facebook event page here.

4) The 2011 Edmonton Take Back The Night march and rally addressing violence against women is coming up soon! It will take place Friday September 23rd starting at 7pm. The event starts with a women-only (trans friendly) march down 118 Avenue, meeting at the Alberta Avenue Community Hall (9210 118 Avenue, Edmonton). After the march is a rally that everyone (men, women, and non-binary) is welcome to, which includes a Clothesline Project and a speak out (open mic). Check out the Facebook event here.

We hope to see some of you at these upcoming events!
